Great IT support isn’t just about fixing problems—it’s about building strong partnerships that help businesses grow. That’s exactly what we do at BetterWorld Technology, whether through fully managed solutions or flexible Co-Managed IT Services in Chicago. To kick off our new interview series, we sat down with Regional Director and Certified vCISO Chris Jordan to talk about his role, the impact of MSPs in Chicago, and how BetterWorld helps businesses navigate today’s tech challenges.
First, as the Regional Director for Better World Technology in the Chicago metropolitan area, can you describe your role within our Co-Managed IT Services team here in Chicago?
Christopher Jordan: Sure. As Regional Director, I oversee strategic partnerships with some of Chicago's most prominent organizations, most of whom engage with us in a Co-Managed IT model.
Our role varies depending on their needs—either augmenting their internal IT teams with strategic leadership or providing the technical expertise their IT director requires to execute business objectives.
My focus is ensuring our clients have seamless access to the technology, talent, and strategic foresight needed to operate efficiently today without losing sight of where they need to be tomorrow. This includes conducting risk assessments, refining technology roadmaps, and working alongside senior leaders as they budget for OpEx and CapEx investments.
I also collaborate closely with IT teams, providing executive-level insights to bridge the gap between technical execution and business outcomes.
OK, wonderful. Now, what are the unique challenges and benefits of providing Co-Managed IT services in the Chicago area?
Christopher Jordan: Chicago’s business landscape is dynamic. We’re home to a mix of national and global enterprises, middle-market firms, and high-growth commercial organizations.
The city’s workforce model is equally complex, blending on-site, hybrid, and remote operations. These factors create significant IT demands, yet rising talent costs present a growing challenge. For instance, a qualified IT technician in Chicago earns an average salary between $60,000 and $70,000 a year—before factoring in total employee burden costs. Meanwhile, an experienced IT director in this market commands a salary exceeding $170,000 annually.
As talent costs continue to rise alongside economic pressures, more businesses are turning to Better World Technology as a strategic IT partner. We provide the technical expertise and operational support they need—not only to maintain business continuity but also to scale and thrive in an increasingly competitive market.
That’s fine. In your experience, what sets your MSP apart in delivering Co-Managed IT solutions?
Christopher Jordan: This one I’m particularly proud of.
What truly differentiates Better World Technology is how we blend technical expertise (IQ) with business intelligence and emotional intelligence (EQ).
Our leadership team has experience both in the trenches and in the boardroom, giving us a unique ability to advise clients not just on IT infrastructure but on how technology decisions impact business performance, risk mitigation, and long-term growth. Unlike many providers that take a purely transactional approach, we integrate deeply into our clients’ operations.
We don’t just manage IT systems—we enable IT leaders, department heads, and executives to make better-informed strategic decisions that align with their organization’s financial and operational goals.
Great. Now, how do you foresee the future of Co-Managed IT services evolving in the Chicago market?
Christopher Jordan: I believe the demand for Co-Managed IT will continue to grow as businesses recognize the need for flexible, high-impact IT leadership without the overhead of a full in-house team.
While most of our commercial and enterprise clients want to retain some internal IT presence, we anticipate a continued shift toward leaner IT teams supplemented by trusted partners like Better World Technology.
Our role will expand beyond traditional IT management into strategic advisory services, including staff augmentation, Virtual CIO and CISO engagements, and specialized consulting. As cyber threats grow more complex and digital transformation accelerates, Chicago businesses will seek partners who can help them not just react to IT challenges, but proactively drive innovation, security, and efficiency.
Wonderful. Thank you for your time.
Christopher Jordan: You're very welcome.
